Dharti was born and raised in Gujarat, India. She developed an interest in physiotherapy while she was getting treatment because of a fractured tibia she sustained while hiking. Dharti completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy in Saurashtra University in Gujarat; after finishing her Bachelor’s, she worked as a physiotherapist in India for 1 year before coming to Canada. During her hospital internship for her Bachelor’s, Dharti worked with patients who had total knee and hip replacements; she also has experience treating muskulo-skeletal injuries, sports injuries, ligament injuries, and some neurological post-stroke rehabilitation.
Upon arrival in Canada, Dharti went to Sheridan College Oakville and did a Diploma in Medical Office Administration while also working as a PTA in Mississauga. Most recently, Dharti did additional schooling to become a certified pelvic floor resident physiotherapist!
Dharti has worked with many demographics, including the elderly, during her time working as a PTA and recreational aide in a long-term care home. Her time in the long term care home gave her experience working with patients with Parkinson’s, post-stroke symptoms, dementia, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, and ALS. Even though she no longer works at the long-term care home, she still volunteers there on a monthly basis, working in their behavior support department!
When she isn’t working, Dharti loves to stay active; she has even done extreme sports such as rafting and paragliding! She loves playing and watching cricket and was on her college’s women’s cricket team. She also enjoys camping, hiking, playing badminton, and painting, and loves to use cooking as a way to relax!
