Virginia Lightheart

Patient Experience Manager

Virginia grew up in the Muskokas, moving to Niagara after highschool to pursue a degree that blended her interests in disability studies and health promotion. Since graduation, she has worked in a variety of sectors spanning from community engagement and event planning for non-profit groups, to health office administration, to professional fundraising for some of Canada’s most respected Children’s charities.
At NHRC, Virginia’s passion lies in connecting with patients from the very first call they make into the clinic. Having grown up with a physical disability herself – persevering through her own share of surgery recovery and rehab – she sees her role as a Patient Experience Coordinator through a more diverse and empathetic lens than most. She knows first-hand how overwhelming it can feel to reach out for help when dealing with a new or nagging injury, and she also understands just how challenging it can be to find the right team to entrust with that care. Virginia aims to take the uncertainty out of those first steps by ensuring that clients feel understood and supported when seeking out the information they need, to begin feeling better. (And you can bet that she will happily cheer you on along your path to progress, too!)
Outside of the clinic, Virginia loves to swim and be at the beach, to hang out with family and friends, and to spend time with her rescue-cat Chloe.
Virginia looks forward to welcoming you to NHRC and to helping you in any way she can!
